Bahamas
Thursday, Sept 19, 9:30 PM
As the studio follow-up to 2020’s Sad Hunk—an album beloved by the Juno Awards & Ted Lasso music supervisors alike—Bahamas’ 6th full-length, BOOTCUT, sees Afie Jurvanen emerge from the pandemic fog to fully embrace the joys of IRL interaction & the ability to travel freely once again. Produced by Grammy-Nominated Robbie Lackritz (Feist, Jack Johnson, Peach Pit) & Dan Knobler (Allison Russell, Rodney Crowell); BOOTCUT was recorded in Nashville’s Sound Emporium. It features Jurvanen backed by a veritable Murderer’s Row of Music City pros, including guitar legend (current Eagle) Vince Gill, pedal-steel maestro Russ Pahl (Kenny Rogers, Don Williams, Kacey Musgraves), bassist Dave Roe (Sturgill Simpson, Dwight Yoakam, Johnny Cash), harmonica player Mickey Raphael (Willie Nelson), bluegrass legend Sam Bush. So yes, you could call this Bahamas’ “country” album, full of songs rooted in familiar Nashville topics like love, death, automotive vehicles & topped with extra dollops of teary twang, mandolin-pluckin’, & saloon-door-swinging rhythm. But BOOTCUT isn’t simply a Bahamas interpretation of country music, it’s a country-music interpretation of Bahamas that puts a sepia-toned spin on Jurvanen’s signature moves using a genre-less blend of Americana, Bluegrass, & all that Bahamas has been know to embody: the funky finesse, the bizarro guitar solos that sound like they’re beaming in from Mars, & the ever-so-sly storytelling that filters timeless themes through a distinctly modern lens.
Tim Baker
Thursday, Sept 19, 7:45 PM
Tim Baker's Along The Mountain Road serves as a sonic and scenic guide to his album and companion release, The Festival (released October 21, 2022, via End Times Music). Where explored the existential anxiety and big dreams of pandemic isolation, Along The Mountain Road centres on Tim’s relocation home, from Toronto to Newfoundland, where all these recordings would eventually take place. The EP frames the move as it ultimately felt: like a pilgrimage, reaching back to Tim's origins, his geographic and spiritual roots, and ultimately to a new beginning.
It is within the framework of this personal odyssey that Along the Mountain Road finds its place as a captivating soundtrack and companion piece to . It allows a peek behind the curtain of how the album came to be and ultimately tells its own unique side story to Tim’s creative process.
Through Along The Mountain Road, Tim Baker offers a musical narrative that intertwines the threads of personal reflection, the impact of the pandemic, and the profound significance of his return to the East Coast. Musically, at times so big and celebratory, at times so small and heartbreaking, and at times just a simple cruisy nod of enjoyment, it is indeed a journey that invites listeners to join him on this transformative path.

The Beaches
Friday, Sept 20, 9:30 PM
Named after the neighborhood they grew up in, The Beaches comprises lead vocalist/bassist Jordan Miller, guitarist Kylie Miller, keyboardist/guitarist Leandra Earl, and drummer Eliza Enman-McDaniel. On their latest album, Blame My Ex, the group melds gritty, groovy instrumentals with sharp, specific lyricism as they explore the triumphs and disappointments of mid-20s growing pains. Sometimes funny, sometimes caustic, but always authentic, Blame My Ex is a satisfying mashup of anthemic bops and tender, introspective tracks that touch on heartbreak, transition, and growth.
After their viral hit "Blame Brett," the single spent 16 weeks at #1 on alternative radio in Canada, making it the biggest alternative hit of 2023. It reached #16 on alternative radio in the US and peaked at #31 on US Pop Radio. The track was also included on NPR and i-D's Best of 2023 list, and The Beaches were named Billboard Canada’s Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
The band made their US late-night TV debut on Kimmel in February 2024 and also won the JUNO Award for Group of the Year and Rock Album of the Year. They sold over 70,000 tickets on their worldwide tour, including selling out Toronto’s Bud Stage (16,000 capacity) three months in advance.
JJ Wilde
Friday, Sept 20, 7:45 PM
Chart-topping, tour de force JJ Wilde has been on an incredible journey since the release of her debut album Ruthless in 2020. With over 36 million global streams, Wilde continues to captivate a diverse global audience, consistently establishing herself as a dominant voice in the rock music scene. Wilde etched her name in the history books as the first female artist to simultaneously hit #1 on all three Canadian rock charts with her debut SOCAN Award winning single “The Rush,” holding the slot for 10 weeks in addition to spending a whopping 21 weeks atop the Rock Big Picture chart. She quickly followed with two more #1’s: “Best Boy,” an unapologetic anthem challenging societal norms for women, and her hit “Mercy,” a modern rock powerhouse weaving a tale of revenge. Her reign as Canada’s Queen of Rock n’ Roll didn’t end there; in 2021 Wilde took home the JUNO Award for ‘Rock Album of the Year’ for her album Ruthless (2020), becoming the first woman to do so since Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill in 1996. Wilde has shared the stage with a who’s-who of acclaimed acts including Incubus, Pearl Jam, The Glorious Sons, Scorpions, Kiss and more, and her magnetic stage presence at renowned festivals worldwide, including Bottle Rock, Firefly, Nova Rock, and BST Hyde Park, have solidified her reputation as a captivating live performer. Now, Wilde embarks on her next chapter, her most powerful and personal collection of songs to date with the May 2024 EP Best Of Me (Part 1).
Softcult
Friday, Sept 20, 6:15 PM
An energetic duo from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, Softcult recalls the sound and aesthetic of the grunge and riot grrrl waves of the ‘90s. They’ve won over fans with a steady stream of EPs and engaging singles like “Spit It Out” and “Drain.”
Softcult was formed by Phoenix and Mercedes Arn-Horn, twin sisters with classical training in voice, piano, and guitar. The duo first rose to prominence in 2009 as the nucleus of the pop-punk outfit Courage My Love. The band earned considerable buzz in their decade together, earning a Juno Award nomination in 2014 for Breakthrough Group of the Year, but struggles with their label left them disillusioned enough to put the project on hold in 2020. The Arn-Horns were still keen to work together, though, and drew from influences including Nirvana, Bikini Kill, and My Bloody Valentine, blending grunge, riot grrrl, and shoegaze in equal measure. The duo exacted their vision not only through music, but through the media as well, self-publishing a 'zine to keep fans abreast of band news and social issues the sisters felt passionate about.
Softcult wasted no time in filling the void left by Courage My Love, releasing their debut single, “Another Bish,” and accompanying EP, Year of the Rat, in 2021. Year of the Snake followed in 2022, preceded by the singles “Spit It Out” and “Uzumaki,” two of their most-streamed songs. Further augmenting their sound with lead guitarist Brent McSwiggen and bassist Oliver Burdett (who left in 2023 and was replaced with Phil Hirst), the band next released two Nirvana covers (“Been a Son” and “Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle”) before gearing up for their third EP, 2023’s See You in the Dark, a Juno Award nominee for Alternative Album of the Year. Their fourth EP, Heaven, was issued in 2024.
